Braised Red Cabbage with Apple Cider

Braised cabbage is a delicious dish when prepared well. Bacon always adds a lot of savory flavor, and apples add sweetness for balance.

Ingredients
- 1 cup fresh apple cider
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar
- 8 cups red cabbage
- 3 ounces bacon
- 1 tablespoon Mrs. Dash Garlic & Herb Seasoning Blend
- 2 medium apples
- 1 large onion

Preparation
Step 1
Chop bacon, and cook in a large saucepan over medium heat for 4-5 minutes or until crispy.
Dice onion and add to bacon, cook for 3 to 5 minutes or until tender.
Finely shred cabbage.
Core apples and cut into 1/2 inch (1.25cm) cubes. Add remaining ingredients except Mrs. Dash® Garlic & Herb, and stir well, cook over medium-low heat for 40-50 minutes or until tender. Add Mrs. Dash Garlic & Herb and stir.
