Lentils with Onions and Rice

Ingredients
- 1 cup lentils
- 1 1/2 cups rice
- 3 cups water
- 1/2 tsp. cumin
- 1 tsp. salt
- 5 onions, thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- Can substitute rice for 3/4 cup cracked Bulgar wheat and cook an extra 30 mins.

Preparation
Step 1
Cook lentils and 3 cups water in saucepan. Bring to boil and simmer 30 mins. Wash rice. Add seasoning and rice to lentils. Stir well and simmer 25 mins. Brown onion slices in oil. Remove and drain. Set aside. Pour oil over lentils and rice. Cook 5 mins. Serve in large dish with onion slices on top. Serve with yogurt or tahini sauce.
