Ingredients
- 1 stick margarine
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup light bown sugar
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 Tbs. grated orange peel
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 1/2 cup sour milk
- 1/2 cup orange juice
- 3 cups sifted flour
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 cup chopped dates
- 1 cup chopped nuts

Step 1
Cream the margarine with sugars in a mixing bowl. Add the eggs, orange peel and vanilla and beat until light and fluffy. Add the sour milk and beat well. Add orange juice and beat thoroughly. Sift the dry ingredients together and add to creamed mixture and stir just until blended. Fold in the dates and nuts and pour into a greased 9"x5"x3" loaf pan. Bake at 350 for 1 hour to one hour and 10 minutes. Remove from pan and cool before slicing.
