Ingredients
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 3 slices Italian bread, cubed
- 4 very ripe bananas, mashed
- Grated lemon peel

Preparation
Step 1
Whisk eggs, milk, sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon and vanilla.
Add the bread and let sand for 5 minutes.
Stir in bananas.
Grease a 1 1/2 quart casserole dish. Add the bread mixture.
Place the dish in a larger baking pan and add hot water until it reaches 1 1/2-inch up the sides of the inside pan.
Bake at 350°F for 50 minutes.
Remove the casserole dish from the water and allow to cool on a wire rack for 10 to 15 minutes. Garnish with lemon peel or top with bananas, walnuts and caramel.
