Preparation

Step 1

Thaw puff pastry at room temperature until easy to handle; approximately 40 minutes. Whisk egg and water in small bowl and set aside.

Combine green onions, bacon, cheddar, mozzarella, Monterrey Jack and garlic powder in medium bowl.

Unfold pastry sheet on lightly floured surface. Remove parchment paper. Top with cheese mixture. Starting with the short side closest to you; roll up like a jelly roll as tight as you can. Cut into 1-inch pieces. Lay flat on lightly greased baking sheet. Brush with egg mixture on sides and top.

Bake at 400°F for 25 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm.

Notes:

I use the white part only of the green onion. I feel that the green part can be very strong and tough. The thick green part of the onion is often overused similar to when pimentos were so often used 15 years or so ago. Just saying. Also ensure you put the puff pastry on a well floured surface or you will have a sticky mess.
