Skillet Braised Brussel Sprouts with Bacon & Onions

- 4 slices bacon, chopped fine
- 1/3 c. onion, coarsely chopped
- 1 lb. fresh Brussel sprouts
- 1/2 c. water
- 1/2 t. salt
- 1 T. butter

Preparation
Step 1
Prepare sprouts by trimming stem ends and any discolored leaves. Cut in half through the stem. In a 12" skillet, cook the bacon and onion over medium low heat until bacon is crisp and onion is browned, about 10 minutes. Drain on paper towel lined plate. Add sprouts, water & 1/2 t. salt to skillet, increase heat to medium. Cover & simmer until sprouts are bright green about 5-6 minutes. Uncover pan and cook until liquid has evaporated and sprouts are tender, about 3 minutes. Turn off heat and stir in bacon & butter. Season with salt & pepper.
