Sweet'n Sour Top Chops

The sauce for these grilled chops should be prepared several hours or overnight before grilling
- Sauce:
- 1/4 c. butter
- 1 c. brown sugar
- 1/4 c. cornstarch
- 2 T. soy sauce
- 1 T. worchestershire sauce
- 1 c. vinegar
- 3 c. pineapple juice
- 1/2 t. salt
- 1 t. liquid smoke (optional)
- 4- 10 medium thickness center cut pork chops

- 2 oz. vodka
- 1/2 oz. peach schnapps
- 2 oz. orange juice
- Club soda
- Splash of cream
Spanish Noodles with Shrimp and Peas

Toasted pasta takes the place of rice in this paella-like dish from Good Housekeeping magazine
- 2 c. lower-sodium chicken or seafood stock
- 1 bottle(8 oz.) clam sauce
- 1 T. tomato paste
- 3 T. olive oil
- 12 oz. fideos or fidelini noodles, broken into 2-in. lengths
- 1 med. red pepper, thinly sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, chopped
- 1 t. smoked paprika
- 1 c. frozen peas
- 1 lb. shelled, deveined shrimp
- 1/2 c. fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 lemon, cut into 6 wedges
Red Velvet Cake w/Cream Cheese Frosting

Cake flour is used in this recipe--it has less protein than all-purpose flour, which results in a more tender cake
- For the frosting:
- 8 T. (1 stick) unsalted butter, room temperature
- 1 c. sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 t. vanilla extract
- 2 T. red food coloring
- 1/2 c. cocoa
- Pinch salt
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 1 t. baking soda
- 2 t. white vinegar
- 2-8 oz. pkg. cream cheese, chilled
- 8 T. (1 stick) unsalted butter, room temperature
- Pinch salt
- 3-4 c. powdered sugar
- 1 t. vanilla extract
- Food coloring if desired to tint
Super Rescue Soup

Jill Murphy made this soup during the Superstorm Sandy, thus the "rescue" name
- 2 T. olive oil
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 medium carrots, scrubbed and finely chopped
- 2 medium stalks of celery, finely chopped
- 1 medium zucchini quartered lengthwise and cut into 1/2 in. pieces
- 3/4 c. green beans, cut into 1/2 in. pieces
- 1 russet potato, peeled and cut into 1/2 in. cubes
- 1/2 c. tomato sauce or one medium tomato, chopped
- 1/2 pearl barley
- 1 15 oz. can cannellini beans, drained and rinsed
- 1/2 t. salt or to taste
Garlic Shrimp

Directions Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat
- 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
- 2 garlic cloves, thinly sliced
- 1/4 teaspoon red-pepper flakes
- 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined, tails left intact
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- Coarse salt and freshly ground pepper

- 2 lb. Johnsonville sweet Italian sausage links, cut into 1 inch pieces
- 2 ob. ground chuck (75% lean)
- 1 small onion, chopped fine
- 1 lb. fresh mushrooms, sliced
- 3 pkg. Schilling spaghettis sauce mix packets
- 1 large jar 6 cheese Ragu spaghetti sauce(1 qt. size)
- 1 large jar Romano/Parmesan Ragu spag. sauce(1 qt. size)
- 1 reg. jar chunky Ragu spag. sauce
- 1 T. minced garlic
- 1 T. dried oregano
- 1 heaping t. basi
- 1 T sugar
- 1 lg.(29 oz.) can tomato sauce
- 1 29 oz. can diced tomatoes(low salt if possible)
- 1 can sliced ripe olives
