Slow Cooker BBQ Burgers with Carmelized Onions

Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 medium to large white onion, sliced into rings
- 1 tbsp oregano
- 1 tbsp onion powder
- 1 tsp lemon pepper
- 1 tbsp sea salt
- 1 tbsp butter
- 2 cups of your favorite barbecue sauce or enough to cover the burgers
- cheese slices
- lettuce
- burger buns
- French fries

Step 1
In a large bowl, using your hands, incorporate the beef with the oregano, onion powder, pepper and salt. Shape into patties and place in your slowcooker.
Cover the burgers with the sauce and cook on low for 6 hours.
Remove the burgers from the slowcooker and cover to keep warm. Pour the sauce into a saucepan and bring to the boil and allow to reduce by about 1/3.
Meanwhile add the butter to a skillet and caramelize the onions.
Assemble the burgers with a slice of cheese on the bottom then the burger. Drizzle a spoonful of the reduced sauce over the burger and top with three or four of the caramelized onions and lettuce. (We didn’t use any mayo or butter on the bread because of the barbecue sauce.)
Serve the burgers with oven Fries or your favorite side.
