Preparation

Step 1

Dissolve the yeast in the warm water. When dissolved add the butter, milk, sugar and salt. Add the eggs one at a time and stir well. Gradually stir in the flour and beat until it is smooth and easy to handle. You want your dough to be soft but not sticky or too dry. Save any extra flour for flouring your rolling space and rolling pin. Knead for about 5 minutes. Cover and let rise in a area free of drafts for 1-1/2 hours or until doubled in size. Punch down and start rolling out.

When your dough is rolled out, spread the orange filling over the dough up to about 1/2 inch from the edges. Starting at one end, roll the dough with your hands a little at a time all the way down to the other end. From there, use both your hands and continue rolling until you have a long piece of dough. Seal the seam by pinching together with your fingers. Using a serrated knife, slice into desired sized pieces. I cut the log in half, cut both of those in half again and then cut until I have 12 pieces. Place into a well buttered 9x13 baking pan. Let rise a second time until it has doubled again (approx.).

Bake at 375 degrees for about 25 to 30 minutes.

If you saved a little filling, add more to the rolls while still warm from the oven.
They are also good with a drizzle of vanilla frosting.

Option 2: Place dough in a greased or sprayed bowl. Cover and place in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days before using.

You can also use this recipe and place in the freezer for later. Roll them out, cut into desired pieces and skip the first rising. Place the rolls onto a cookie sheet lined with non-stick foil or wax paper. Place directly into the freezer. When completely frozen remove from tray and store them in a gallon zipper bag and return them to the freezer. When you want to make one, two or all of them, remove them from the freezer and place in your baking dish. Wait until they are defrosted and have risen and are now doubled in size. Now bake them according to the recipe instructions above.

Enjoy!
