in large sauce pan boil 1 ½ pints fresh rinsed blueberries, 1 c vanilla sugar and 1 tbsp water along with 1 c water. When it comes to a boil, reduce heat, simmer for 15 minutes. Then strain through a fine sieve and cool. We tried this on 5/25/2008, the kids absolutely loved it, Jackie was at work. I cooled it and poured it over vanilla ice cream on top of blueberry bread and they ate all of it. It was sweet but not too sweet.
