Ingredients

  • Glaze:
  • 2-1/4 c cake flour
  • 1-1/2 c sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 8 eggs + 1 white
  • 1/2 c veg oil
  • 3 //4c orange juice
  • 3 tbsp grated orange rind
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 1 lb conf sugar

Preparation

Step 1

Sift flour, 3/4 c sugar, bkng powder & salt. Whisk 8 egg yolks, oil, juice, rind & vanilla. Whisk into flour mixture. Beat whites until frothy. Add crm of tartar & heat until firm. Beat in 3/4 c sugar 1 tbsp at a time until peaks form. Fold 1/4 of whites into batter and add remaining. Bake in greased tube pan for 70 min at 350°. Stir juice into sugar for glaze and pour over cool cake
