Ingredients
- 2 medium onions, diced
- 2 stalks celery diced
- 3 carrots, diced
- 4 cloves garlic, sliced
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 1/2 teaspoons chili
- 2 teaspoons fresh ginger, grated
- 8 cups water or vegetable stock
- 3 pounds, or three large Yams or sweet potatoes
- 1/4 cup fresh lemon or lime juice
- salt and pepper to taste

Preparation
Step 1
In a soup pot over medium heat cook onions, celery, carrots, and garlic in oil or margarine for about five to ten minutes. Cook without stirring until veggies start to brown. Add chili, ginger, and cumin. Cook until aroma rises from the pot, similar to Jesus rising from the dead, etc.
Add sweet potatoes and water. Cook for about 30 minutes, until yams are very soft.
Puree soup, then add lemon juice, salt and pepper.
