CABARNET CRANBERRY SAUCE

This recipe freezes well. Will never use the store bought sauce again.

Ingredients
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup cabernet will (any red wine will work)
- 1/2 cup OJ
- 2 tbs orange zest
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 12 oz bag fresh cranberries
- pinch of salt
- pinch of cayenne
- 1/4 cup cold water

Preparation
Step 1
Add sugar to saucepan. Pour in OJ, wine, zest, cinnamon stick and spices. Bring to simmer on med heat; then add cranberries. Bring back to simmer and berries will start to pop. Simmer 10-12 min. Sauce will start to thicken and berries will have popped and collapsed.
Add 1/4 cup cold water and turn off heat; take out cin stick. Cool to room temp. Can be refrigerated for several wks.
