Ingredients
- 2 cups pumpkin puree
- 3 1/3 cups sifted all purpose flour
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- large pinch of ground cloves
- 2/3 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups sugar
- 4 eggs
- 1/3 cup dry sherry
- 2/3 cup coarsely chopped walnuts

Step 1
Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease two loaf pans.
Sift flour. baking powder, salt baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves into a large bowl.
Beat butter in a large bowl until creamy. Gradually add sugar continue beating until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in 2 cups pumpkin puree and the sherry.
Fold sifted ingredients into batter, scraping bottom and sides of bowl occasionally; fold in walnuts.
Divide batter evenly between prepared loaf pans. Bake until wooden pick inserted in center of bread comes out clean, about 1 hour. Cool completely on wire racks before removing from pans.
