Ingredients

  • 6 ounces ground beef
  • 3/4 medium green peppers, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 3/8 medium onion, cut into chunks
  • 3/4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 cups water
  • 3/4 (14.5 ounce) can diced Italian tomatoes, undrained
  • 3/8 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
  • 1-1/4 teaspoons brown sugar
  • 3/4 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 3/4 cup and 2 teaspoons uncooked spiral pasta
  • Croutons

Step 1

In a Dutch oven or soup kettle, cook the beef, green peppers, onion and garlic over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain. Add the water, tomatoes, tomato paste, brown sugar, Italian seasoning, salt and pepper. Bring to a boil. Add pasta. Cook for 10-14 minutes or until pasta is tender, stirring occasionally. Serve with croutons if desired.
