French-Style Cream Cheese Spread

This is more than worth the small bit of time it takes to throw this together. If you don't have Herbes de Provence, you can make your own with equal parts (dried) basil, fennel seed, marjoram, oregano, rosemary, savory, and thyme.

Ingredients

  • 1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup margarine or butter, softened
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon snipped fresh parsley
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 2 teaspoons white wine vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon herbes de Provence, crushed
  • 1/4 teaspoon seasoned salt
  • Fresh thyme, optional
  • Assorted crackers

Preparation

Step 1

In a medium bowl stir together cream cheese, margarine or butter, garlic, parsley, water, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, herbs de Provence, and seasoned salt. Cover and chill overnight.

To serve, garnish with fresh thyme, if desired. Serve with crackers. Makes about 1-1/3 cups (21 1-tablespoon servings).
