Baked Macaroni & Cheese

  • 2 cups uncooked pasta
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup all purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 tablespoon pepper
  • 1 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 5 cups milk
  • 3 1/2 cups cheddar cheese
  • 10 dashes hot sauce
  • 3 tablespoons bread crumbs

Step 1

Preheat oven to 400 degrees and grease a baking dish.

Boil pasta to al dente and let cool.

In a medium saucepan, melt butter on medium high heat. Stir in flour, salt, pepper, onion powder and milk–whisk until smooth. Cook, stirring, for 2 minutes.

Reduce heat to low and whisk in 1/2 cup of cheese at a time. Add more cheese once melted until all cheese is used. Then add hot sauce.

Stir in cooked macaroni, move mixture into baking dish and sprinkle with bread crumb.

Bake until cheese is melted and brown on top.
