Tabouli with Lentils

Soak the bulghur in boiling water to cover for 10 minutes or until soft and plump
- 2 cups cooked French green lentils
- 1 cup bulghur
- 1 cup olive oil
- 1/2 cup lemon juice ( about 4 lemons )
- 1 clove minced garlic
- salt, pepper, and cayenne to taste
- 4 seeded and diced plum tomatoes
- 1 thinly-sliced bunch of scallions
- 1 seeded and diced cucumber
- 1 small bag diced red radishes
- 3 cups chopped parsley
- 1/2 cup chopped mint
Linguine with White Clam Sauce

Heat the olive oil in a dutch-oven at medium high
- 2 Tablespoons olive oil
- 1/2 cup chopped Italian parsley
- 8 cloves chopped garlic
- 4 ( 6 ounce ) cans chopped clams,
- drained and liquid reserved
- 1/2 cup whipping cream
- 1/4 cup dry white wine
- 1 Tablespoon white-wine worcestershire
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
- 1/4 teaspoon white pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 pound linguine, cooked
- parmesan cheese for garnish
Bacon Mushroom Crock Pot Soup

Reserve the bacon as a garnish, then combine all the other ingredients in the crock pot
- 7 slices bacon, chopped and crisply fried
- 2 ( 8 ounce ) packages of mushrooms, chopped
- 1 1/2 cups chopped carrots
- 2 stalks celery, chopped
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 shallots, peeled and chopped
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 4 cups beef broth
- 2 Tablespoons tomato paste
- 2 Tablespoons soy sauce
- salt and pepper to taste
Crockpot Butterscotch Fondue

Put everything except the rum in the crock pot, blend together, and cook at low for 3 hours
- 2 ( 14 ounce ) cans
- sweetened condensed milk
- 2 cups brown sugar
- 1 cup melted butter
- 2/3 cup corn syrup
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 1/4 cup rum ( or milk )
- apple slices
- brownie pieces
- sponge cake chunks
- marshmallows
Classic Southern Macaroni Salad

Combine all ingredients and chill
- Amish version :
- 2 cups cooked macaroni
- 2 peeled and chopped hard-boiled eggs
- 1/4 cup chopped celery
- 1/4 cup chopped onion
- 1/3 to 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- or Miracle Whip salad dressing
- 2 Tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 2 teaspoons white vinegar or lemon juice
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 teaspoon celery seed ( optional )
- uses Miracle Whip salad dressing
- uses 3 Tablespoons mustard
- adds 2 Tablespoons pickle relish
- adds 1/4 cup chopped red pepper garnish
Orange Roasted Tofu

- 3 cloves minced garlic
- 1 inch to 1 1/2 inch piece
- of peeled ginger
- 1 Tablespoon chili powder
- 2 medium thin-sliced shallots
- 2 Tablespoons red miso
- 2 Tablespoons olive oil
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup chicken broth
- zest of 1 orange
- juice of the same orange
- 1 block firm or extra-firm tofu,
- rinsed, patted dry with a towel,
- and cut into 1/2 inch slices
Red Cabbage Bacon Salad

- 3 cups shredded or finely chopped
- red cabbage
- 1 cup finely chopped celery
- 3-4 slices red onion
- 3 slices finely chopped and browned bacon

- 1/4 cup softened butter
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 cup flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 1/3 cup milk
- 1 1/2 cup berries
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 cup orange juice
- cool-whip for garnish
Hot & Sour Crock Pot Soup

Place in the crock pot : all ingredients except the sesame oil, tofu, cilantro, and green onions
- 2 cans chicken broth
- 1 cup cooked chopped chicken and-or pork
- 4 ounces thinly-sliced shitake mushrooms
- 1/2 cup thinly-sliced bamboo shoots
- 3 Tablespoons rice wine vinegar
- ( or rice vinegar and rice wine )
- 2 Tablespoons soysauce
- 1 1/2 teaspoons chili paste
- ( or Chinese chile sauce )
- 2 Tablespoons cornstarch
- enough water to make a thin paste
- with the cornstarch
- 2 teaspoons sesame oil
- 4 ounces firm tofu cut into 1/2 inch pieces
- garnish : chopped cilantro
- and thinly sliced green onions
