Cranberry Drops

The tart-sweet flavor and chewy texture of dried cranberries make these cookies especially pleasing.
Ingredients
- 1 1/3 c all-purpse flour
- 1 t baking powder
- 1/2 t. ground nutmeg
- 1/4 t. salt
- 1/2 c. shortening that doesn't require refrigeration
- 1/3 c. packed brown sugar
- 1/3 c. granulted sugar
- 1 c. snipped dried cranberries
- 3/4 c. chopped walnuts

Step 1
Stir together flour, baking powder, nutmeg, and salt in a medium mixing bowl. Cut in shortening till mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
layer in a 1 qt. glass jar or canister the following ingredients: browwn sugar, granlulated sugar, cranberried, flour mixture, and walnuts. Tap jar gently on the counter to settle each layer before adding the next. Cover jar and attach baking directions.
Baking Directions:
use within 1 month. Heat oven 375. Empty the contents of the jar into a large mixing bowl, and stir together. Combine 1 slightly beaten egg, and 2 tblsp orange juice in small bowl; add to jar contents. Stir till combined.
Drop dough by rounded teaspoons 2 inches apart onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake about 10 minutes or till just lightly browned. Tranfer to wire racks and cool. Makes about 30.
