Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Add butter and brown sugar for topping onto 9 x 13 in. sheet pan. Place in oven while preparing batter. Place butter in large mixing bowl, cream; add sugar gradually and beat well. Add eggs and vanilla, beat until light and fluffy. Mix flour and baking powder, add alternately with milk and beat until smooth. Remove pan with topping from over, stir brown sugar and butter to distribute evenly in pan. Place pineapple rings and cherries on sugar and butter mixture. Pour cake batter over pineapple rings and cherries. Bake 35 to 40 minutes or until toothpick inserted into center comes out clean. Invert cake while hot.
