Dutch Apple Pie

  • Topping:
  • 9 inch unbaked pie shell
  • 2/3 cup sifted flour
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/3 cup light brown sugar
  • Filling:
  • 2 pounds tart cooking apples
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoon flour
  • Dash of salt
  • 3/4 Cup sugar
  • 1 Teaspoon Cinnamon


Preparation time 10mins
Cooking time 55mins


Step 1

1. Prepare pie filling-refrigerate.
2. Topping-combine flour and sugar in a medium bowl. cut in butter with a pastry blender or 2 knives until mixture is consistency of coarse cornmeal. Refrigerate.
Preheat oven to 400'

3. Filling- Peel and core apples. Thinly slice into large bowl. sprinkle with lemon juice. Combine flour, sugar, salt & cinnamon, mixing well. Toss lightly with apples. Turn filling into pie shell spreading evenly. cover with topping.

Bake for 40-45 minutes or until apples are done and top is brown.
