Ingredients
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 cup shortening
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 3 oranges and juice and rind
- 4 cups flour
- 1 tsp soda
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt

Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 375°
Cream shortening then add sugar and beat.
Add eggs and orange juice and some of the rind
Beat
Then add buttermilk and dry ingrediants alternately.
Drop and bake 9 to 10 minutes
Icing for orange cookies
Add powdered sugar to grated rind and juice of an orange until spreading consistency. Add a sprinkle of salt and a lump of softened butter.
Mix well, then spread on warm cookies.
