Broiled Pears and Apricots

Ingredients
- 1 can (lb) apricot halves
- 6 ripe pears,peeled,cored and quarted
- 1/2 teaspoon grated orange rind
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 6 tablespoons butter or margarine,melted
- 3/4 cup sliced almonds or other nuts,chopped
- ice cream

Preparation
Step 1
Drain apricots,reserving 1/3 cup syrup.Toss pears with the orange rind amd orange in shallow 1 1/2 qt broiler-proof baking dish.Add apricots and reserves syrup.Mix next 3 ingredients and sprinkle evenly over fruits.Broil about 6" from heat until sugar melts and almonds are tender.Cool a few minutes.tap crust to break,then spoon into dessert dishes with fruit and juices.Top with ice cream.
