Homemade Lemonade

This is a lemonade recipe from one of my favorite authors books. Louis Penny, and the Armand Gamache series of mysteries. This lemonade is featured in the book, A Rule Against Murder
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 water
- 6 ripe, juice lemons, or as much as desired
- Still water, club soda, or sparkling water to desire about 1/2 cup per serving

Step 1
1. To make a simple syrup, bring the sugar and water to a simmer, stirring, over low heat. Remove from the heat and continue stirring until all sugar is dissolved. Pour the simple syrup into a heatproof jar with a lid. (a canning jar works well). Cool to room temperature.
2. Meanwhile squeeze the lemons, there should be about 1 cup of juice. Squeeze more if you like a more tart juice. When the simple syrup is cool, pour in the lemon juice and refrigerate until well chilled, for at least 4 hours and up to days.
3. To serve: Fill a glass with ice. Pour in about 1/3 of the lemon juice mix. Top glass with about 1/2 cup of still or sparkling water. Serve very cold.
