Simple Citrus Berry Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. (10 oz) frozen strawberries in syrup, thawed
  • 1 pkg. (10 oz) frozen raspberries in syrup, thawed
  • 1/4 C. orange juice
  • 1 lemon
  • 1 T. cornstarch

Step 1

1. Drain strawberries and raspberries, reserving ¾ C. syrup. Add orange juice to reserved syrup mixture. Zest lemon to measure 2 tsp. zest.
2. In small sauté pan, combine cornstarch and lemon zest. Whisk syrup mixture into cornstarch. Bring to a boil; reduce heat. Simmer 3-4 minutes or until thickened and clear. Remove from heat; stir in reserved berries. Cool thoroughly. Serve sauce over ice cream, angel food cake, or pound cake.
