Ingredients
- 1 lb fresh asparagus cut into 2-inch pieces
- 4 jalapeno slices smashed
- 4 green onions (scallions) cut into 2-inch pieces
- 1 quart of chicken broth (4 cups)

Preparation
Step 1
Bring chicken broth to boil and add the other three ingredients. Bring back to a simmer and cook 40-45 minutes, or until asparagus is tender. Place all the veggies in a blender and chop until well broken up. Add some of the liquid and then puree. Return all to rest of liquid in pot and reheat, adding chili powder, salt and pepper to taste.
The heat from the jalapenos and chili powder comes through, but does not overpower the asparagus flavor.
