Beef Brisket - Oven Barbecued Beef Brisket (Bernice Simpson)

Ingredients

  • 5 to 6 lb. Boneless beef brisket
  • 3 oz commercial liquid smoke
  • 1/2 teasp celery salt
  • 1/2 teasp onion salt
  • 1/2 teasp garlic salt
  • 4 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 6 oz barbecue sauce

Preparation

Step 1

Generously sprinkle both sides of meat with seasoned salts. Place meat in baking dish or Tupperware and pour liquid smoke over it. Refrigerate overnight or up to 24 hours.
Pour off liquid smoke. Sprinkle with salt, pepper and Worchestershire Sauce. Bake in 275 degree oven for 5 hours in foil covered dish. Do not let foil touch meat. Pour off liquid.

I try to cook mine the day before it’s to be served, then after being in the refrigerator overnight it is easier to slice. Slice thin with electric knife against the grain. Cover meat with barbecue sauce and heat in 275 oven for one hour (still covered with foil).
