Easy-to-assemble hand-held pies make a satisfying treat any time of the day
- Pastry
- 2 cups (8.5 oz) Unbleached All-Purpose Flour
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup (16 tablespoons) cold unsalted butter, cut into pats
- 1 large egg
- 2 tablespoons (1 oz) cold milk
- Filling
- 8 ounces fresh or frozen strawberries, quartered
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons Instant ClearJel or cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- 1 large egg, beaten; for sealing dough

- 1 rotisserie chicken, skin and bones removed and meat shredded
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 yellow or red bell pepper, seeded and chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, finely diced
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 2 bay leaves
- 1 small can of diced green chiles
- 1 14-oz can diced tomatoes
- 2 cups apple cider
- 3 cups chicken broth
- 2 cans white beans, rinsed
- Salt and pepper
- Grated cheese, sour cream, sliced onions, sliced jalapenos for topping
