- 2/3 cup butter, or margarine
- 1 3/4 cups sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
- 3 cups cake flour, sifted
- 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/4 cups milk

1. In a crock pot, combine the chicken broth and tomato paste
- 1 can chicken broth, (14-1/2 ounces)
- 1 can tomato paste, (6 ounces)
- 1 lb. boneless skinless chicken breast halves, cut into 1" cubes
- 2 cups potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 1 celery stalk, sliced
- 2 medium carrots, sliced
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 1/2 tablespoons water
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch

Pepper Steak

Trim fat and bone from meat; cut meat into 4 to 6 serving pieces
- 1 1/2 lbs. sirloin steak, 1/2 inch thick (or round steak)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 medium onions, chopped
- 1 cup beef broth
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 2 green peppers, cut into 1" pieces
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1/4 cup cold water
- 2 tomatoes, cut into eighths
- 4 cups cooked rice

- 1 pound ground turkey or hamburger (optional.), browned and drained
- shredded cheese and sour cream for embelishment, (optional unless you're in my house. then it's mandatory.)
