Preheat oven to 375 degrees Mix sugar and butter until well mixed
- 1 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 cup butter
- 4 eggs
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 3 1/2 cups flour
- 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 8 oz. raisins
- 8 oz. walnuts
- 8 oz. dates (otional)
- 1/4 cup liquor (rum or brandy)NOTE: depending on preference, you can increase liquor to 1/2 cup of liquor
Chocolate Dipped Hazelnut Shortbread

- 1 cup husked hazelnuts
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 8 tablespoons (1 stick) butter, room temperature

- 1/2 cup extra-virgin olive oil
- 2 pounds stewing beef, cut into 1-inch cubes
- 2 red onions, roughly chopped
- 3 garlic cloves, crushed
- 3 cups Chianti wine
- Salt
- 2 teaspoons whole peppercorns
Halibut with Spicy Mint-Cilantro Chutney

1. Remove seeds from half of serrano pepper; leave seeds in other half of pepper
- Ingredients
- 1 serrano pepper, halved
- 1/2 cup fresh cilantro leaves
- 1/2 cup chopped green onions
- 1/4 cup 2% Greek-style yogurt (such as Fage)
- 4 teaspoons 1/3-less-fat cream cheese
- 1 1/2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
- 1/2 teaspoon minced peeled fresh ginger
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon sugar
- 1/8 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 garlic clove, crushed
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh mint

- 1 tsp lemon extract *plus a little extra
- 5 cups flour, sifted
