Mashed Carrots and Rutabaga

  • 10 oz (300g) carrots, cut into small pieces
  • 7 oz (200g) rutabaga, cut into small pieces
  • salt
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp light brown sugar (optional)
  • pinch of grated nutmeg


Preparation time 10mins
Cooking time 30mins


Step 1

Boil the vegetables together in a large pan of boiling salted water for about 20 minutes, or until soft.

Drain well and return them to the pan.

Add the remaining ingredients and mash the vegetables well before serving.
