Buttermilk Strawberry Cake

This cake is scrumptious! It has a filling of strawberries. This recipe is from the Relish magazine insert in the newspaper. It is slightly modified.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 c flour
- 3/4 tsp baking powder
- 3/4 tsp baking soda
- 3/4 tsp salt
- 6 tbs unsalted butter,softened
- 1/2 c sugar
- 1/2 c turbinado sugar, plus more sprinkling
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 c strawberries, sliced
- 3/4 buttermilk

Step 1
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.Grease and flour a 9 inch springform pan.
Combine flour with baking powder, baking soda and salt.
Beat butter and sugars together until fluffy, about 3 mins. Add eggs and vanilla and beat well. At low speed, add flour mixture alternately with buttermilk, and beat until just blended. Spoon batter into prepared pan, leaving a little batter. Place strawberries in pan over batter. Cover strawberries with the last of the batter. Sprinkle with extra turbinado sugar. Bake 30-40 mins. or until toothpick inserted into center comes out clean. Let cool. Release sides of pan. Remove cake and invert onto a serving plate.
