Cheesy Black Bean Burgers

  • Ingredients:
  • 1 (15-1/2 ounce) can black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 pound lean ground beef (90% lean or higher)
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1 cup pre-shredded reduced-fat Cheddar cheese
  • 1/3 cup seasoned bread crumbs
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 4 hamburger buns (wheat)

Step 1


Place black beans in a large bowl and mash with the back of a large spoon until smooth but still a bit chunky. Add the remaining ingredients (minus buns) and mix well with black beans. Divide the beef mixture and shape into 4 (1/2-inch thick) patties. Place patties on 4-inch rack. Grill for 6-8 minutes per side for 1 (1/2-inch thick) patty. Serve with your favorite condiments.
