Mom's Apple Pie
- Crust :
- 3/4 cup crisco
- 2 1/4 cup flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- 7 Tbl. ice cold water
- Filling :
- 8-10 Jonathan apples, sliced with no skins
- Sugar, cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg (no measurement available, use judgement)
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 2 Tbl cornstarch
Mix everything but water with pastry cutter or blender until crumbles are fine. Add water until more solid. Mix dough with hand. Divide ball in half (one for bottom and one for top crust). Roll out on flowered wax paper. Note: Flick some water under the wax paper so that it stays in place while rolling out dough. Spray pie plate with Pam. Fork the bottom of pie dough and cut slits in pie top, sprinkle with sugar.
Mix all ingredients in a bowl. Pour over bottom crust and dot with pats of butter before putting top crust on.
Bake at 425 for 10 minutes, then 350 for 40-45 minutes.
