TAGINE MAKFOUL Lamb Tagine with Onions

  • 1 quart Knorr® Ultimate Vegetarian Vegetable Base or
  • Chicken Base, prepared
  • as needed Olive oil
  • 2 large Tomatoes, peeled and sliced
  • 5 lb Lamb shoulder
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 6 each Cinnamon sticks
  • 1 tsp Saffron threads
  • 1 tsp White pepper
  • 4 lb Yellow onions
  • garnish Cinnamon, ground



Step 1

Yield: 10 servings

1. Prepare Ultimate Base according to package direction. Set aside until ready to use.
2. In a tagine or rounder, place olive oil, tomato, meat, salt, cinnamon sticks, saffron threads, white pepper, onions and prepared Ultimate Base. Cover and cook over low heat for 1 hour or until meat is tender.
3. Adjust seasoning and serve directly from the tagine or arrange in a serving platter. Place lamb in platter, pour the sauce and sprinkle the whole dish with the ground cinnamon
