Ingredients

  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • 1 1/4 c water
  • 3/4 c sour cream
  • 1/4 c melted butter
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 small apples peeled grated and squeezed dry
  • Filling
  • 1 med apple chopped
  • 1/2 c packed brown sugar
  • 1/3 c chopped pecans
  • 1 T unsweetened cocoa
  • 2 t cinnamon
  • 1 t grated lemon peel
  • 1 T lemon juice
  • whipped cream and caramel sauce for garnish

Preparation

Step 1

heat oven to 350
spray 13x9 pan with cooking spray
In a large bowl beat cake mix, water, sour cream, melted butter and eggs on medium 2 mins-stir in grated apple
In a medium bowl mix all filling ingredients
Pour half of the cake mix in a pan-sprinkle filling even over batter-top with remaining batter-swirl with a knife several times
bake 30 mins then cool in pan on rack
garnish with whipped cream and caramel sauce
