RAISIN BARS

In 1973-74, we had a Brazilian exchange student, Casia, who stayed with us. One of her favorite cookies were their Raisin Bars, which she pronounced "Haisin Bars."

Ingredients
- CRUST:
- 1 c. brown sugar
- 1 1/4 c. quick oatmeal
- 1 1/4 c. flour
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 c. margarine
- FILLING:
- 1 1/4 c. raisins
- 2/3 c. water
- 2 Tbs. flour
- 1/2 c. sugar

Step 1
Mix the dry crust ingredients. Melt the butter and mix in dry crust ingredients until crumbly.
Boil the filling ingredients together until thick.
Pat half the crust mixture in a 9 x 13" pan. Cover with all the raisin filling, then top with the remainder of the crumbly crust mixture.
Bake 20-30 minutes in a 325 degree F oven.
