Red, White, & Blue Jello

You'll want to plan ahead for this layered Jello treat but it's well worth the effort. Made with store-bought ingredients like Jello packets and packaged Cool Whip, this recipe is easy to make it just takes some time and planning. Red, White, & Blue Jello is the perfect jiggly dessert centerpiece for your patriotic celebratory table.

Ingredients
- 2 (3-ounce) packages of blue jello
- 4 cups boiling water, divided
- 4 1/2 cups cold water, divided
- 1 cup fresh blueberries
- 1 envelope unflavored gelatin
- 1 cup milk
- 2/3 cup sugar
- 2 cups sour cream, 16-ounces
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 (3-ounce) packages strawberry Jello
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
- 1 (8-ounce) container Cool Whip, room temperature

Step 1
In a trifle bowl, dissolve strawberry Jello in 2 cups boiling water. Stir in 2 cups cold water. Add strawberries, save a few to garnish the top with later. Refrigerate until firm, about 2 to 3 hours. Do not start the next layer if the layer below is not firm.
In a sauce pan, sprinkle unflavored gelatin over 1/2 cup cold water; let stand for 1 minute. Add the milk and sugar; cook and stir over medium heat until gelatin and sugar are dissolved. Cool to room temperature. Whisk in sour cream and vanilla. Spoon over strawberry Jello and refrigerate until firm, about 1 to 2 hours.
In a medium bowl, dissolve blue Jello in 2 cups of boiling water; stir in 2 cups of cold water. Add blueberries, reserving a few for the top. Spoon over white layer. Chill until set, about 3 to 4 hours. Garnish with Cool Whip and the reserved berries.
NOTE:
Start this recipe 1 to 2 days before planning to serve it to allow enough chill time for each layer.
