cups white sugar 1 teaspoon cinnamon
cups water 1 teaspoon cloves
cups white vinegar 1 teaspoon allspice
teaspoon salt 1 lemon sliced thinly
Cook and peel 6 quart basket of beets. Halve or quarter according to size. Mix together and bring to a boil. Add beets, simmer for 15 minutes and put in sterilized jars.
