Ingredients
- 2/3 cup sugar (less if commercially canned fruit is used)
- 1 quart berries
- 6 Tbls butter
- 3/4 cup Sugar
- 3/4 cup Flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 3/4 cup Milk
- 1/4 tsp Salt
- 1 tsp Vanilla
- 1 Tbls Lemon Zest

Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix the sugar and berries together. Place a deep baking dish containing the butter in oven until butter is melted. Make a batter of the sugar, flour, baking powder, salt, vanilla and milk. Pour over the melted butter but do not stir. Pour the fruit over the batter and bake approximately one hour. Sprinkle lemon zest over fruit. Batter will rise to the top and become brown and crisp when done.
