Apple Crisp Dutch Oven Recipe

Ingredients

  • 4 apples
  • 1 1/3 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 1/3 tsp nutmeg
  • 2 cups quick oats
  • 2/3 cup flour
  • 1 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 2/3 tsp baking powder
  • 2/3 tsp salt
  • 2/3 cup melted butter

Preparation

Step 1

1. Slice apples.
2. Mix apple slices, cinnamon and nutmeg in a bowl.
3. Mix oats, flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and butter to make crust.
4. Press half the crust mix into the bottom and up the sides of the dutch oven about an inch.
5. Spread the apples onto the crust.
6. Completely cover apples with the rest of the crust mix.
7. Bake covered about 45 minutes at 350 degrees, until top crust is light brown and apples are tender. (For campfire, place 15 briquettes on lid and 5 underneath, and cook for 45 minutes.)

Serves about 6
