Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg yolk plus milk to equal 2/3 cup, reserve egg white
  • 1 cup crushed corn flakes
  • apples
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup icing sugar
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Preparation

Step 1

In bowl combine flour, butter and salt. Using pastry blender cut until crumble. Add egg yolk and milk to flour mixture and blend. Roll 1/2 pastry to fit pan. Sprinkle with corn flakes; layer with apples.

Combine sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle over apples. Cover with remaining pastry. Cut lots of steam slits in top pastry layer. Beat egg white and brush over pastry.

Bake in 350 oven for 30 minutes.

Mix icing sugar, water and vanilla. Drizzle over top as soon as removed from over.
