Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 2 large red potatoes, unpeeled and thinly sliced
  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 tart large apples, unpeeled, cored and sliced into 1/2 inch rings
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • Pinch of cardamom
  • Salt and freshly ground pepper

Step 1

Melt butter in large skillet over medium heat. Add potatoes and cook 10 minutes, turning occasionally. Blend in onion and continue cooking until translucent, about 6-8 minutes. Stir in apples, cinnamon, nutmeg and cardamom. Cover, reduce heat to low and simmer until apples are tender, shaking pan occasionally to prevent sticking, about 15-20 minutes. Season with salt and pepper. Serve immediately.
