Ingredients

  • 1/2 c butter or margarine, softened
  • 1/2 c granulated sugar
  • 1/2 c brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 c unsweetened applesauce
  • 1/2 c wheat germ
  • 3 1/2 c all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Preparation

Step 1

Place butter in large mixing bowl and cream thoroughly.

Add sugars gradually. Beat until light and fluffy.

Add egg, applesauce and wheat germ; mix well.

Combine remaining dry ingredients in separate bowl. Add to applesauce mixture in 3 additions; mixing well after each addition. Dough will be stiff.

Fill cookie press. Use decorator tip 6. Make 1 ½” mounds, 2” apart on ungreased, uncoated baking sheet.

Bake at 400° for 9-11 minutes or until lightly browned around the edges. Do not over bake. Brush with a thin glaze.
