Spicy Tomato Soup

- 1/2 cup butter plus 3 tablespoons
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, chopped
- 3 cups chicken broth
- 29 ounces can tomato sauce
- 29 ounces can diced tomatoes with juice
- 2 dashes tobasco
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1 tablespoon dill
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon basil

Step 1
IN a small skillet, melt the remaining butter. Saute the onion and garlic over low heat until the onion is translucent about 4 minutes. Add the onion and garlic to flour mix. Slowly add the chicken broth, about one cup at a time, stirring well after each addition and allowing the soup to thicken before adding more broth. When all the broth is added, begin adding the tomato sauce and tomatoes, about one cup at a time, stirring well, then allowing the mixture to thicken. When all the sauce and tomatoes have been added, season the sou with the hot sauce, honey, dill, pepper, chili powder, and basil. Simmer it on low heat for about 45 minutes so that the flavors can blend. Stir frequently so it will not stick to the bottom.
