  • 2 c. dates
  • 1 c. chopped walnuts
  • 1 c. boiling water
  • 1/2 c. butter
  • 3/4 c. brown sugar
  • 1 egg (beaten)
  • 2 c. flour
  • 1/2 t. salt
  • 1 t. baking soda
  • 5 T. cold water



Step 1

Pour boiling water over dates and allow to stand till soft.
Cream butter and sugar till fluffy. Add egg and blend.
Sift four and salt together twice. Add baking soda to dates mixture.
Combine alternately flour mixture and date mixture. Stir in cold water and add walnuts.
Bake at 350 for 45 minutes
