Ingredients

  • 3 pounds well trimmed beef brisket - (to 4)
  • 1 tablespoon cajun seasoning (or hot/spicy seasoned salt)
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1/2 teaspoon hot sauce

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 325 degrees.

Rub surface of brisket with seasoning. Brown in hot cast-iron skillet with vegetable oil spray. Place brisket on rectangle of heavy aluminum foil.

Combine water and hot sauce and spoon over brisket. Seal foil and place in baking pan. Bake about 30 to 45 minutes per pound at 325 degrees or until meat is tender.

Remove from oven and let stand 15 to 30 minutes for ease in slicing.

This recipe yields 9 servings; 1 carb gram per serving.
