Iced Orange Cookies

  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon grated orange peel
  • 2 1/2 cups AP flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Icing
  • 2 cups powder sugar
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 2 tablespoon butter, melted



Step 1

1. In a large mixing bowl cream shortening and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in orange juice and peel.

2. Combine the flour, baking powder and salt; gradually add to the creamed mixture

3. Drop by teaspoon fulls 2 in apart onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes or until edges begin to brown. Remove to wire racks to cool
