Ingredients

  • 2

    oranges

  • C brown sugar , divided

  • 2

    TBSP liquid honey

  • ¼

    C shopped pecans

  • 1

    TSP cinnamon

  • 1

    TBSP soft margarine

  • Milk

  • 3

    TBSP vegetable oil

  • 2

    C flour

  • 1

    C whole wheat flour

  • 4

    TSP baking powder

  • ½

    TSP salt

  • ½

    C raisins

Directions

Grate rind and squeeze juice from 2 oranges into a 2 cup measure. Set aside. Combine 1/2 C of the brown sugar and honey with 2 TBSP of the juice into saucepan. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 1 minute. Stir in pecans. Pour into a well greased 9 inch round cake pan, and set aside. Combine remaining 2 TBSP brown sugar, cinnamon and margarine. Set aside. Add milk to remaining orange mixture to yield 1 1/3 C, stir in oil. Mix flours, baking powder and salt in a large bowl. Add liquid mixture to dry ingredients stirring just until moistened. Turn dough onto lightly floured surface and knead until smooth, about 12 times. Roll dough into 8X12 inch rectangle. Spread reserved cinnamon-sugar mixture onto the dough and top with raisins. Roll up dough from long side and cut into 12 slices. Arrange in cake pan cut side down. Bake at 375 for 30-35 minutes until golden. Remove from oven and immediately invert buns onto rack over wax paper to cool.
