Ingredients
- Cake:
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa
- 1-1/4 tsp baking soda
- 3/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp baking powder
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1-3/4 sugar
- 3 eggs
- 2 tbsp kirsch or cherry juice
- 1-1/2 tbsp. vanilla
- `1-1/4 cups hot water
- Filling:
- 2/3 cups dried cherries
- 3 to 4 tbsp kirsch or cherry juice
- 1 cup cherry preserves or jam, preferably Morello or sour Cherry.
- Frosting:
- 4 oz. high quality white chocolate, chopped
- 1 (8oz) pkg. cream cheese, softened
- 1 tbsp. kirsch, if desired
- 3/4 to 1 cup powdered sugar, sifted
- Chocolate Coverd Cherries:
- 123 large maraschino cherries with stems
- 3 oz. bittersweet chocolate 60% cacao,
- chopped
